For clarification, I mean hackers who user their knowledge and skill to gain entry into a network to which they don’t otherwise have permission to be on
Thought this was going to be a list of the best hackers, right? Well, you’re wrong. Why? Here, here, and here all think they know who the best hackers of all time are. They’re wrong though, for one glaringly obvious reason: the best hackers aren’t going out and making a name for themselves.
These lists always bother me, and I guess I just wanted to get that off my chest. I know some pretty “elite” people, as the terminology goes, but they aren’t out there making a big name for themselves. Most of the time if their name got rather public it was an accident on their part.

Most people have no idea what a true HACKER is by definition. They have that BS Hollywood version of a hacker, breaking into systems and writing virii. A true Hacker never causes any damage and never steals.
